My
involvement with MK Safetynet grew from a friendship with Bev
Shellrude Thompson and from relationships with other survivors, close
friends who have fought to take back their lives.
I grew up in southwestern Ontario in Canada. I am 55, married to Rodney.
I have a son, Jordan who is married to Jen and a daughter, Suzanne in
university. I presently work with a non-profit housing corporation that
manages rent-geared-to-income apartments/homes. I assist the residents
to access different community resources, mediate neighborhood disputes
and plan
building meetings for our residents. To my surprise, I am celebrated in
this government organization. Before this, I worked with various
organizations and had a small business of my own.
I always feel I am a bit of an odd ball, that I see things from a
different perspective than most people. I was at one time dictated by
fear in my life and now I usually like the challenge of overcoming new
fears. I find it interesting that I am energized when I work with people
who are working on overcoming their fears as well. I am honored that
they entrust me to support them in their journey. I believe that I am
here for MKSN and MKSN is here for me in the now so that I can continue
my journey of change.
