Final Report of the Independent Commission of Inquiry
(C&MA)

In the late 1990's a group of Presbyterian Former Mks reported to the church leaders that they had been abused. Initially those reporting the abuse were stonewalled, but soon the church "did the right thing" and established an Independent Commission of Inquiry (ICI). After the ICI's work was completed, the church established the Independent Abuse Review Panel. At least two members of the original ICI are on the IARP.

The IARP created an informational video regarding the ICI, the Former Mk's who reported to the ICI, etc. They are making it available, free of charge, to anyone who would like to see it.

In the DVD, the head of the Presbyterian Missions department talks about why it is important to investigate allegations of abuse, a missionary parent whose daughter was abused speaks, and 4 or 5 women who were victims of abuse by a missionary tell what it was like to report to the ICI, their initial feelings about doing so, and the aftermath of going through this process. The DVD is aimed at educating and encouraging church leaders, parents and Former MKs.
