DAVID BRIGGS ON
ABUSE IN THE UNITED METHODIST CHURCH
David Briggs,
who has spent a good part of the last 15 years investigating the
abuse of minors by religious individuals and listening to the
stories of survivors and their families, is examining abuse in The
United Methodist Church. He is specifically looking at abuse that
occurred among United Methodist missionary children in the
Democratic Republic of the Congo from the 1940's on at the Central
School in Lubondai and at the Methodist-Presbyterian Hostel related
to The American School of Kinshasa. But David also would like
to talk to any survivor of abuse in The United Methodist Church.
David is committed to making sure the voices of survivors are heard
and that church policies are brought to light for the common good.
You can see a sample of David's reporting on abuse of missionary
children in this link to the Missionary Kids Safety Net page
