Ann Nesmith Beardslee

Ann Beardslee served as a missionary with the Christian and Missionary Alliance from 1954 - 1963. She and he husband, Howard, lived in Mali and Burkina Faso, West Africa with their two sons. Their daughter was born in Bamako, Mali in 1957. Both their sons, Keith and Howie, were required to board at the Alliance Academy in Mamou. Keith started Mamou in 1957 and Howie in 1960.

The Beardslees returned to the States in 1963 and joined the Presbyterian Church. They lived in Kinshasa, Congo/Zaire from 1965 until 1967 and Keith, Howie and Beth attended the American School of Kinshasa which was about three miles from their home. Again in Nairobi, Kenya their children were able to live at home and went to the Nairobi International School until their return to the States in 1971.

Ann was the Director of the Presbyterian Hunger Program (1978-1984) in the New York office of the United Presbyterian Church, In 1986, she became the Associate Director of Church World Service, until 1991 when she retired. During that period she served as the Interim Executive Director of Church World Service for two years.

Ann and Howard now live in the Westminster Woods retirement home near Jacksonville Florida and, as often as possible, enjoy visiting with their children and seven grandchildren in New England.
